Cooler weather is just around the corner and that makes this one of the best times of year to get out and about with your canine pals! While enjoy time out of the house with your dog can be as simple as heading to a favorite dog park, there are plenty of events in the area specifically designed for you and your pup to enjoy together. Even better? All of the events below benefit local animal rescue organizations so you can have fun and feel good too!
Pups in the Park – Nats vs Phillies
September 8, Nationals Park, Washington, DC
Take your pup to the ballgame! Watch the Nats take on the Phillies with your best friend by your side. The family picnic area for Pups in the Park features grass areas in case nature calls and Nats Park has pet sitters on hand to watch your pup if you need to visit the concession stand. Proceeds from your ticket will benefit the Washington Humane Society.
2016 DC Walk for the Animals and Barktober Fest
September 18, Capitol Riverfront, Washington, DC
Support the Washington Humane Society and the Washington Animal Rescue League at this year’s Walk for the Animals by walking as an individual or with a group. Not up for walking? You can still support two of the area’s premiere rescue organizations by purchasing tickets for Pet-A-Palooza and/or Barktober Fest. Bring your pup for an afternoon outdoors enjoying beer, live music, games, and enjoy a parade of adoptable dogs!
Whiskers and Whiskey
September 28, One Eight Distilling, Washington, DC
Enjoy a very special yappy hour hosted by One Eight Distilling in Northeast DC. The distillery is hosting a casual cocktail party that featuring drinks made with local spirits, tasty bites from Mason Dixie Biscuit Co and Swizzler, and sweet treats from Dolcezza gelato. You can come with or without your four-legged friend and the ticket price includes your first cocktail plus a donation to WHS-WARL.

Animal Welfare League of Arlington, Pints 4 Paws Beer Fest
October 16, Courthouse Plaza, Arlington, VA
What could be better than an afternoon of music, craft brews, and adorable pups? AWLA is hosting their first-ever Pints 4 Paws event in October and in additional to music and beer, they’ll also have food from local food trucks, games, a canine costume contest, and a chance to meet adoptable AWLA pups. Tickets are available through Eventbrite.
