The dog days of summer are coming to an end, but here’s one last cool treat for your pup! This tropical treat is perfect for freezing inside a Kong toy or even as smaller treats in an ice cube tray.
Manuka honey is considered a “therapeutic honey” believed to help alleviate symptoms of kennel cough and allergies. It can also shorten healing time on wounds, scratches, and burns. Look for a UMF 10+ or more on the label. Check with your veterinarian before giving your dog Manuka.
Recipe
1 Ripe Banana
¼ c Fresh Pineapple Chunks
1 T Shredded Coconut
1 t Raw Wildflower Honey or Manuka
¼ c Plain Yogurt
Slice up banana and pineapple into pieces small enough to fit into the mouth of a Kong. Plug the bottom hole with a slice of banana to prevent and leaks.
Mix all ingredients together in a bowl and stuff inside a Kong using a spoon. Place in freezer for 3-4 hours to firm up.
Give to your dog as a refreshingly cool treat after a hot day at the park!
